In the Weeds?!?

Hi Friends!

Ever have those moments in life, where time just literally flies? I have been a busy lady here at the home front..oh wait...I am always busy :). Lately I have been drowning in my homework, Managerial Finance, uggggh. Each week I have a seriously intense homework regimen that leaves me lost or chasing my tail. Only 3 weeks left of this very trying class. Enough of the school rantings as I chose to pay for this punishment (I kid!) and have only 4 more classes until my MBA is finished.

In other news, I have been busy creating, baking, cooking, laughing, playing, sewing, snapping pictures, mostly working, and sometimes sleeping. I have a few things coming up pretty soon for share but for now, I share a layout from Freckled Fawn and some of my personal style info.

This page was just meant to be. I love music and I am often stuck on lyrics for a song for days. However those lyrics only pop in my head after a moment reminds me. When I was a little girl living in Ogden, Utah, I remember the beauty of the world around me. I remember taking trips with my parents up to the cabin and the rocky mountains jutting so high. I also remember my daddy singing in his lovely deep baritone along with Randy Travis. My oldest boy was out riding his bike and let go of the handlebars and I started snapping pictures (I really do not wear my camera...I swear!) In the background "look heart, no hands" started playing in my head and the layout was born. During the processing of this photo I cried, look at him, so much bigger than he used to be, but still my baby. How fast it goes by, how bittersweet the love and memories make us feel at times.

Now onto my style:
I love the challenge of a white background.
I love ink splatters
I love Doilies
I love small journaling or lyrics
I love straight fonts or san seriph fonts
I love washi
I love versifine onyx black ink and any roller stamp...
These top are all must haves on every single layout!
I lightly embellish, but can get overly carried away if I love the product
I love veneer!
I love story telling pictures.

These are the elements I have to have and they change from time to time. I notice I have become deeper with emotions and in the story I wish to convey. I love being on a design team as it inspires me to get creative! Thanks for reading along!
Cheers!

Let's Talk : December Daily!

Hi Friends!

How many of you will be joining me in creating a December Daily album? I am very excited as this will be my first album after many years of watching. I jumped at the pre-order when it first hit my email. I decided I would go without all of my extras for a few months in order to get the kit. It is sold out however, which makes that empathetic part of me feel guilty that others wont have the kit. Have you thought about how you will approach your DD? Are you making notes? Today while I pumped myself up on it and the process, I created my December Daily companion. Just a mini composition book that I altered for notes and memory keeping. Here is a peek. Now that I have made one...maybe a tutorial? I just know me...2 kids, full time job, budding business, full time MBA student, things will get lost up there in mommy brain. I need help to pull out the memory files sometimes. Here is a peek at my companion.

Really simple, pretty, and useful...now to start using it ;)
Cheers!

Need Scouting Inspiration?

Hello Friends!

My big boy is in scouts and I want to scrap his scouting adventures...however I am not in love with the scouting scrappy offerings...sigh. So I am making it my own and with a bag of K & Company all in one scouting die cuts I begin. My son recently went to his first Cub O Ree, where he earned several belt-loops for his belt. He is very excited and this is a special part of his life. I decided to make him his own scrappy book. I choose to go with 8.5 X 11 to challenge myself to a new size. So far I am in love! I have adopted kraft cardstock into my blank canvas selection. I will use kraft and white throughout the book (kind of partial to the kraft for this book already). I hope this offers you guys who are in need of scouting scrapping inspiration. Lets begin...

Page One: The introductory page...Letting my oldest boy remember the day he said his promise from memory. I used the cub scouts die cut, white on red die cuts, and the den die cut from the pack I purchased. I also used a ticket from FF along with some great washi and a fabulous square doily. I also used the Brownie kit from SS and the tape from this months kit at SC. For the background I used MH heirloom blue and Gold.

Page Two: Features his shining moment in the BB range in which I was not sure who was more afraid  He did it however, I was just waiting for a moment right out of the "Christmas Story" which on a side note I do not like to watch because the Santa freaks me out! I used Thickers from AC, SC "Brownie" add-on kit, doily and washi from FF. Miss Betty obliged us with some lovely typed journaling as well. I used MH opaque White and Passport for my splatters.

Page Three: This page is all about his archery center. There were so many picture from this moment as they ranged from terrified to proud. He was so intimidated by the arrows that he thought the arrow would bounce back and stab him...after he shot the first arrow he felt like a pro and all fears were rested. I killed my "Brownie" add-on kit with this page and used doilies that I found in the baking section along with Smash tape and FF tape and tickets. I used MH real red for my splatters.

I hope this gives you a little bit a of different twist to traditional scout scrapping. I will share all of the pages as they come along. Thanks for looking!
Cheers!

I used my potty people wood veneers and made them little ninja's and they went right over my he said, she said washi tape, along with the arrow washi tape, and the woodgrain washi. I love the colors and I love the little hearts in the knots of the woodgrain!
